Juvederm is a natural cosmetic filler called Hyaluronic Acid.
Dermal Filler Hyaluronic Acid Facts:
Desired Results:
Dermal Fillers restore volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds such as nasolabial folds (the lines from the nose to the mouth), marionette lines (around the mouth), and to plump or fill out the lips.
Procedure Overview:
Dental block, numbing creams and ice can be used prior to injections. Small needles are used to inject the dermal filler.
Expected Duration:
The length of time the filler lasts depend on the type of filler used and the area treated. In general, Juvederm will last for 6 to 12 months depending on the area injected and degree of correction.
Risks:
The most common side effects are injection-related side effects at the site of the injection such as bleeding, tenderness or pain, redness, bruising, or swelling. These effects generally resolve themselves in 2-6 days. As with all procedures that involve an injection through the skin, there is a risk of infection. One of the main advantages for hyaluronic acid fillers is that they do not pose an allergy risk.
