Broadband Light Treatment
Broadband Light Therapy (BBL™) can be utilized in a variety of ways to treat skin conditions caused by aging and sun exposure.
How It Works
Using a specific filter or wavelength, our broadband light system produces controlled pulses of light energy that gently heats the top layer of skin, targeting the fine vessels that cause redness and the unwanted melanin in pigmented lesions. This same application stimulates collagen production, resulting in healthier, younger-looking skin.
What to Expect
BBL is effective in the treatment of the following skin issues:
- Age spots
- Sun-induced freckles
- Facial redness and broken capillaries
- Enlarged pores
- Blemishes and uneven skin pigmentation
The result is a clearer and more even complexion.
I had a series of six IPL “photo-facial” treatments at a different provider. I noticed some improvements after the first treatment, but very little with the next five. I was disappointed. What do you do differently with your broadband light?
We always start with a consultation and photos of the area that need treatment to make it easier for you and your practitioner to see your progress. From there, we will recommend one or two BBL treatment sessions.
How soon can I return to my normal activities after a BBL?
You can resume most activities immediately, but you will need to limit physical activities for at least 48 hours. Avoid sun exposure for at least one month after treatment, and daily sunscreen application (SPF 45 or higher) is a must.
Besides though few restrictions, you will have very little downtime and can return to work after just a weekend off.
For quicker and more noticeable results, your DermaTouch RN practitioner may suggest combining BBL with a micro-laser peel for pigmented lesions. Depending on your work and social obligations, you may need a couple days off for recovery.
Do I have to sign up for a full BBL package?
No. Your DermaTouch practitioner will give you treatment recommendations along with cost during your initial consultation.
We are aware that the best course of treatment for your needs may require a combination of different lasers and/or procedures. This is our expertise. We want you to be pleased with your results and feel good about the purchase you have made.
Is BBL Treatment for Me?
The ideal candidate for broadband light treatment is a patient in need of a quick solution for pigmentation, redness, sun damage and age spots. The treatment is not recommended for patients who have tan or very dark skin, are on Accutane therapy or are pregnant.
Your DermaTouch RN practitioner will discuss specific precautions that relate to your treatment plan. If you are not a candidate for BBL, an alternative treatment plan may be recommended.
