Skin Tightening
Of the non-surgical cosmetic procedures available today, skin tightening is the most popular and fastest-growing light-based treatment and a favorite of our patients.
With new systems like SkinTyte™ by Sciton® on the market, skin-tightening procedures have become far more affordable compared to similar products that offer fewer results at a higher price.
How It Works
During a SkinTyte procedure, a 15 x 45 mm sapphire-cooled handpiece is passed over the treatment area. The handpiece delivers rapid, gentle pulses of heat deep into the skin, which promotes the contraction and partial denaturation of dermal collagen without harming the epidermis.
The infrared energy also kickstarts the body’s natural healing process, stimulating the formation of a new collagen foundation. This makes skin look and feel firmer.
What to Expect
SkinTyte treatment gives skin a firmer and more youthful appearance. It is proven safe for all skin types, requires no downtime, and causes no excessive redness.
The procedure does not require the use of topical numbing agents, although patients may experience some discomfort as heat builds up in the tissue. If this happens, the technician will move to another area.
Common Questions
Will I need more than one treatment session?
We recommend and sell all skin-tightening procedures in packages of three at two-week intervals. This promotes the serial production of collagen and produces optimal results.
How long will results last?
Results vary from one patient to another, so there is no accurate way to estimate how long your results will last.
In some patients, the treatment areas never go back to their original degree of laxity. Other areas may require treatment every two to three years. It’s important to keep in mind that aging is a continuous process and that collagen production will slow down naturally as you age.
I heard that SkinTyte can also be used to treat cellulite. Is this true?
We have seen overall improvement in cellulite with several skin tightening treatments in the thighs and buttocks. The treatment of cellulite is a continuous process that involves increasing vascular flow to the target areas.
Is Skin Tightening for Me?
SkinTyte is safe and effective for all skin types. The ideal candidate for treatment uses sun protection, is well hydrated, gets sufficient sleep and dietary protein, and does not smoke.
During your initial consultation, your DermaTouch RN practitioner will assess whether you are an ideal candidate for SkinTyte treatment. If not, an alternative treatment plan will be recommended.
