What is Ultherapy®?

Ultherapy® is a non-surgical face and neck tightening procedure that helps combat the lines and wrinkles that come with the natural aging process. The treatment works by stimulating collagen production via thermal ultrasound energy. This boost in collagen thickens the skin and adds volume. As the collagen develops, your wrinkles, sagging skin, and lines gradually fade.

Check out our Ultherapy® reviews to learn more about how the procedure works to reduce moderate skin laxity and encourage the collagen-building process in the jowls, lower, and mid-face areas to create a more youthful appearance – all without surgery and little to no downtime.

What Are the Differences Between Ultherapy® vs. Thermage®?

Ultherapy® and Thermage® are two skin tightening treatments, but Ultherapy® offers our patients some distinct advantages.

  • Ultherapy® is more effective in smaller areas, such as the eyelids and forehead, as well as the neck and chest.
  • Ultherapy® is preferred for patients with thin or moderately thin skin, which is most often the case in aged skin.
  • Thermal ultrasound energy application is more precise with Ultherapy® compared to Thermage®.

How is Ultherapy® Performed?

An Ultherapy® treatment takes about 30 to 90 minutes depending on the size of the area and the extent of skin tightening that is needed for optimum results. Typically, one treatment is enough to stimulate collagen production and lift the skin adequately, but some patients may need additional treatments. We may numb the skin before treatment.

What is Recovery Like After Ultherapy®?

Ultherapy® requires no downtime. Your skin may feel warm and sensitive for the first day or so, but this generally resolves on its own. Patients who receive Ultherapy® treatments are able to resume normal daily activities with no restrictions immediately following their treatment.

How Long Will Ultherapy® Results Last?

The results that you see in our Ultherapy® before and after can last several years based on how quickly your body naturally breaks down the new collagen.

For more than 10 years, the team of nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and aestheticians at DermaTouch RN has been providing excellence in non-invasive Ultherapy® treatments for men and women in Houston, San Antonio, Spring and Cypress, and the nearby communities in Texas. Is there anything better than Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is the only FDA approved nonsurgical treatment to lift and tighten skin on the face, neck and chest. It is the only noninvasive procedure that uses ultrasound imaging to see deep below the skin’s surface to identify the exact depth energy needs to be deposited to stimulate new collagen growth. It is safe and does not have downtime or require post-procedure care. Lifted, tightened skin appears within 3 months and improvements may continue to appear up to 6 months after treatment. Results are natural looking and can last for a year or more, with 95% of patients satisfied 1 year following their Ultherapy treatment.

What age should you start Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is ideal for individuals in their 30s or older that have a mild to moderate degree of skin laxity on their face, neck, or under the chin, or that have lines and wrinkles on their chest. Ultherapy is also a great option for younger individuals that want to maintain their collagen levels to stay ahead of the aging game. However, Ultherapy is not ideal for individuals with severe skin laxity that would benefit most from a surgical facelift.

What is better Ultherapy or Thermage?

Ultherapy and Thermage use two different sources of energy to lift and tighten skin. Ultherapy uses ultrasound technology whereas Thermage uses radio frequency technology. Ultrasound energy is considered superior to radio frequency because it reaches deeper layers of tissue to trigger the body’s natural regenerative response to stimulate collagen production.

Another key advantage of Ultherapy is that ultrasound imaging is used to pinpoint the exact depth and location to deliver the ultrasound energy. This allows the provider to customize your treatment based on your unique anatomy and target tissue layers that will respond best to treatment and produce the best outcome. Radio frequency used by Thermage is much less precise and customizable.

In summary, Ultherapy is more effective and safer than Thermage due to its superior technology.

Can Ultherapy damage your skin?

Ultherapy delivers ultrasound energy deep below the surface of the skin to stimulate collagen production which gradually lifts and tightens skin. Unlike other methods such as surgery, lasers, and radio frequency, the surface of the skin is not injured. Since there is no downtime, patients are able to return to their normal daily activities following the procedure.

What does collagen do?

Collagen is a natural protein generated by the body. As we get older, collagen production declines and collagen fibers become weaker. The result is a decrease in skin firmness and an increase in sagging.

How does Ultherapy stimulate collagen production?

Ultherapy delivers highly-focused ultrasound energy deep into the layers of the tissue to create a thermal effect which triggers new collagen production. The result is a gradual lift of the tissue over two to three months.
