Microneedling in Houston & San Antonio, TX

DermaTouch RN offers minimally invasive treatments for men and women in Houston, San Antonio, Spring and Cypress, as well as the surrounding areas of Texas. We are the largest aesthetic practice in the Houston area, and all of our medical spa treatments are performed by a team of nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and aestheticians who receive continuing education to remain abreast of emerging treatments that benefit our patients. Microneedling is a technique that we use to induce collagen production that tightens the skin and reduces wrinkles.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, restores the collagen in your skin that is lost due to aging and sun damage. Collagen is important because it is the support structure of the skin that makes it more resilient against fine lines and wrinkles.

Several types of collagen treatments have been developed over the years, including injections of bovine collagen. These methods proved to be less than ideal. Stimulating your own collagen is transforming minimally invasive cosmetic treatments and proving to be extremely successful. You can read our patient reviews to learn about this amazing skin rejuvenation treatment.

How Much Does Microneedling Cost?

The average cost of microneedling is $250 per treatment. After we work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan during the consultation, we can provide more details about the cost. We offer free consultations for all non-surgical body contouring procedures. All other consultations cost $50, which we apply towards the cost of your microneedling cosmetic procedures.

To provide excellence in care for men and women who want natural, minimally invasive treatments, we strive to keep our prices affordable. We also offer financing options from Cherry, CareCredit®, and Alle. You can apply online before your consultation and receive a decision within minutes.

Am I a Candidate for Microneedling?

Microneedling treatments are safe for most skin types, tones and textures. If you are a man or woman looking for a treatment for your persistent acne and acne scars, uneven skin tone, or rough skin texture, microneedling may be right for you. Microneedling stretch marks is a great treatment for women after childbirth. The treatment reduces the scar tissue to make the stretch marks less visible.

How is Microneedling Performed?

Microneedling is performed with the SkinPen® device that is equipped with a series of small hair-like needles that create controlled micro injuries in the skin’s surface. One of our nurse practitioners, registered nurses or aestheticians will press the device into the skin and penetrate the skin with the needles. The needles only go into the outer layer of skin, so you do not experience bleeding or discomfort after the treatment. A topical numbing cream can be applied during treatment to keep you comfortable. We also offer an exosome add-on to improve results even more.

What is Recovery Like After Microneedling?

Microneedling requires no downtime but we do recommend that you avoid sun exposure for 1-2 days to protect your healing skin. While you may experience some redness, tenderness and swelling to the skin, most patients return to their normal daily activities without restriction following their microneedling treatment.

How Long Will Microneedling Results Last?

The results of your microneedling cosmetic treatment will depend on how your skin naturally ages. However, patients can expect a more youthful appearance and significant improvements in their skin’s texture and tone that last up to one year.

Frequently Asked Questions About SkinPen Microneedling

How does SkinPen microneedling work to improve skin?

Microneedling with SkinPen creates controlled micro-injuries in the skin that trigger your natural healing response, stimulating new collagen and elastin for smoother, firmer texture over time.

What specific skin concerns can SkinPen help with?

SkinPen can help improve fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, enlarged pores, uneven texture, and overall tone, and is often used for mild to moderate textural concerns rather than very deep wrinkles.

How do I know if I am a good candidate for SkinPen microneedling based on my skin type, tone, and current skin conditions?

Most healthy adults with concerns like scarring, texture, or early aging, and without active infections, open lesions, or certain medical contraindications, are good candidates, but a consultation is needed to review your skin history and medications.

Can SkinPen be used safely on darker skin tones?

SkinPen is designed to be safe on all skin types, including darker tones, when performed with appropriate settings and technique to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation.

What areas of the body can you treat with SkinPen?

Common treatment areas include the face, neck, and décolletage, but SkinPen can also be used on the body for issues like scars and stretch marks.

How many SkinPen treatments will I likely need in a series to see noticeable results?

Most patients benefit from a series of about 3 microneedling sessions spaced roughly 4 weeks apart, though more severe scarring or texture may need additional treatments.

How long can I expect my microneedling results to last, and will I need maintenance sessions?

Results from a series can last many months, but because collagen continues to break down with age, most providers recommend periodic maintenance sessions 1–3 times per year.

How long does a typical SkinPen microneedling appointment take from start to finish?

A typical SkinPen microneedling visit is usually 45–60 minutes, including time for consultation, numbing, and the actual needling portion.

Is there any downtime after SkinPen microneedling treatment?

Downtime is minimal; you can expect redness and a sensation similar to a sunburn for 24–48 hours, and most people resume normal activities quickly while avoiding heat, sweating, and makeup for the first day as directed.
