How It Works
Skin rejuvenation uses lasers to treat skin with visible signs of photo-damage and photo-aging. The process individually treats solar lentigines (also called sun spots or age spots) and facial telangiectasia (broken capillaries); however, during the procedure, the entire face is “painted” with the laser.
The system used at DermaTouch RN is a combination of the Lyra-i™ and Aura-i™ Laser System or Sciton BBL.
What to Expect
Skin rejuvenation is used to treat various types of photo-damage and photo-aging, including sun spots, wrinkles, pigment irregularities, broken blood vessels, and other related issues.
The average patient sees visible improvement in photo-damage after the first few skin rejuvenation treatments. Improvement in photo-aging will become evident gradually over the first three months as the skin naturally produces fresh collagen.
How do I prepare for the procedure?
Your DermaTouch RN practitioner will brief you on the pre-treatment requirements during your initial consultation. These include:
- Avoiding tanning for at least four weeks.
- Applying sunblock (SPF 45 or higher) daily to treatment area.
- Discontinuing Retin-A, Renova, vitamin C serums, glycolic acids, and other potentially irritating skin care products for at least three days.
You will also need to inform your provider of any changes in your medical history and whether you have:
- Tanned or have had a face lift, laser resurfacing, chemical peels, or dermabrasion since your last skin rejuvenation treatment.
- Have taken Tetracycline within the last month.
- Have taken Accutane within the past 12 months.
Just before the procedure, you will also be asked to remove all traces of makeup and cleanse and completely dry the treatment area.
Are there any side effects?
Immediately after the procedure, most patients notice a temporary darkening in age spots as well as slight redness in the treatment areas.
Will I need more than one treatment?
The average patient benefits most from anywhere between three to eight skin rejuvenation treatments.
How much will it cost?
Skin rejuvenation treatment costs $250.00 per area.
Is Skin Rejuvenation for Me?
You may be a candidate for skin rejuvenation if you have started to notice signs of photo-damage and photo-aging, such as sun spots and crow’s feet or a general unevenness in skin tone.
Each person’s skin is unique. Your skin will be assessed by a professional at DermaTouch RN, who will help you choose the best treatment for your skin type and goals.
