The Juvederm family offers versatile and effective hyaluronic fillers, with several Juvederm types to treat various concerns and areas of the face. Read on to learn more with input from expert Nurse Injector Marcy Bouillion.

At one time or another, we all wished we had a magic wand. Well, in the cosmetic world, Juvederm dermal filler is as close to a magic wand as you’ll get (next to the amazing Botox Cosmetic, that is)!

To share her knowledge and experience with Juvederm, we turn to Nurse Injector and Advanced Practice Nurse Marcy Bouillion.

What is Juvederm and how does it work?

Juvederm is a versatile family of fillers made from hyaluronic acid. Designed using advanced technology, Juvederm fillers are injected into the treatment area to add volume, create facial balancing, and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

As Bouillion shares, “I absolutely love the Juvederm family due to its extensive variety and flexibility. Having the knowledge of the Juvederm products is incredible, from understanding their G-Prime, and cohesiveness to the science behind the ability to really enforce aesthetic changes.”

With Juvederm, patients achieve real-time results that are consistent and effective.

“Being able to address our patient’s wishes and see their happiness with their outcomes makes my day,” states Bouillion, “and having access to such a high quality product to do so, is incredible. I am able to really fulfill my patients needs and desires with these fillers by selecting the best choice for treatment area improvement, such as Ultra Plus in the nasolabial region.”

What are the different Juvederm types?

There are currently six Juvederm filler types developed to treat specific areas of the face. The filler types include:

  • Ultra
  • Ultra XC
  • Volbella
  • Voluma
  • Vollure
  • Volux

Here’s a brief breakdown of each filler type, the areas they treat, and how long they ask.

Juvederm Ultra XC

Ultra XC is used for moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles of the lower face. It’s also used as a lip augmentation filler. Results last up to 12 months.

Juvederm Ultra Plus XC

Ultra Plus XC is used to treat moderate to severe wrinkles in the face. Results last up to 12 months.

Juvederm Volbella

Volbella is injected into the lip area to add volume for a natural lift. It’s also used to treat vertical lip lines. Results last up to 12 months.

Juvederm Voluma

Voluma is a versatile filler designed to treat the cheeks by adding volume to hollows and definition in the apples of the cheeks. In addition to being a cheek filler, it’s also the first FDA-approved filler for chin augmentation. Results last up to 24 months.

Juvederm Vollure

Vollure treats severe lines and wrinkles of the lower face, including marionette lines and nasolabial folds. Results last up to 18 months.

Juvederm Volux

Volux is a one-of-a-kind filler that’s FDA-approved to treat moderate to severe loss of jawline definition. Results last up to 12 months.

What areas do Juvederm Types treat?

As discussed above, Juvederm can be used to treat several areas of the face, including the jawline, chin, cheeks, nasolabial folds, and lips. Juvederm is also used to treat the undereye area, temples, marionette lines, vertical lines around the mouth, and acne scarring. Some of the most popular treatment areas are the nasolabial region (nasolabial folds), the cheeks, the chin, and the lips.

When asked what her favorite areas are to treat, Bouillon shares, “I really enjoy all areas of treatment, especially when my patient really expresses a desire to see improvement there. If I had to choose, however, two of my favorite areas to treat would be the nasolabial region, as well as the chin.”

Juvederm results are immediate. The filler take about two weeks to settle and for any swelling to subside for final results. People love the improvement they receive following treatment.

“Once treated, seeing improvement in both the nasolabial fold and chin areas is truly amazing and a “game changer,” as I like to say.”

What should you consider prior to a Juvederm filler treatment?

Are you ready to consider a Juvederm treatment? If so, here are a few things Bouillion recommends you consider prior to treatment.

  1. Your current age: “What further changes will occur and can we wait a bit longer prior to treating the region, or is it best to treat it now?”
  2. Your reasons: “What are the reasons that are driving your desire to have treatment – personal, genetics, social media influence, etc? The reasons behind why you want treated will help you and your provider work together to ensure you’re ready for treatment.
  3. Upcoming vaccine or dental appointments: “You need a minimum of two weeks post your Juvederm treatment to schedule any dental treatments or vaccinations, so plan accordingly to ensure you have the best results from your filler treatment and limit the potential for any side effects.”

If you’re wondering if a Juvederm treatment or which Juvederm type is right for you, consider a consultation at your local MedSpa. You can schedule with DermaTouch RN online 24/7!
