It’s possible to increase collagen production and experience skin tightening without going under the knife with treatments like Ultherapy and Sofwave. Read on to learn more about these treatments and how they can help you increase collagen production and achieve a “lift” without surgery…

It’s no secret that, as we age, our collagen production decreases. The result? Overtime, we begin to see an increase in lines and wrinkles and sagging skin. Fortunately, with today’s technology, it’s possible to lift and tighten the areas of the face, neck, and chest without surgury.

Sofwave vs. Ultherapy Skin Tightening

Thanks to non-invasive treatments like Ultherapy and Sofwave, it’s possible to increase collagen production and experience a “lift” and skin tightening without going under the knife. Ultherapy was FDA-approved for treatment in 2009. Sofwave, on the other hand, was just introduced to the market with FDA-clearance earlier this year.

So, what’s the difference between the two, and which is the right treatment for you? We turn to Houston-based Aesthetician Mindy Goecke for answers.

According to Goecke, Ultherapy and Sofwave both utilize ultrasound waves to generate heat to stimulate collagen. “Both treatments are for tightening and lifting. Sofwave also treats the appearance of cellulite, and can help correct acne scars.”

Ultherapy is an FDA-approved ultrasound technology treatment to lift the chin, neck, and brow area. It is also used to smooth lines on the chest. It’s an ideal, non-invasive treatment to lift and tighten without surgery. Ultherapy supports the body in producing and regenerating collagen production.

With Ultherapy, it takes three to six months for results to appear, and results which gradually improve over time as collagen production increases.

Sofwave uses Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam Technology to stimulate the production of collagen, which in turn revitalizes the skin. It’s FDA cleared for lifting the eyebrow, submental and neck, and reducing fine lines & wrinkles.

Wtih Sofwave, results are seen as early as one week following treatment and continue to improve for up to 3 months after treatment.

Who are ideal candidates for Ultherapy and Sofwave?

Goecke shares, “People with mild to moderate laxity are great candidates for these treatments. Some people like to use them as maintenance treatments for past surgical treatments, as well.”

As for results, Goecks says that, wiith these two treatments, people can expect 2mm to 3mm of lift in the tissue.

What’s the difference between Sofwave vs. Ultherapy?

Though both Sofwave and Ultherapy work to lift and tighten the skin, there are some differences in their areas of focus and how they work.

“Ultherapy treats at a deeper plane, which takes longer to see the results and tends to be more painful,” shares Goecke, “Sofwave treats at the mid dermis, and stimulates collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. People can start seeing improvements in a matter of weeks from Sofwave, unlike the longer wait period of three to six months with Ultherapy.”
