The holidays are here, which for many of us means holiday parties and lots of get-togethers with family and friends. You want to impress those around you by looking and feeling your best. A great choice to ensure you do so is to look into Med Spa services that can do everything from give your skin a healthy glow and reduce the appearance of those pesky pores to improve overall tone and texture, add volume, and fill in fine lines and wrinkles.

To help us navigate some of the top treatments available to help you look your holiday best, we turn to Certified Clinic Medical Assistant and Laser Technician Amanda McMillan.

Plan Med Spa Services and Treatments with Recovery Time in Mind

When it comes to Med Spa services, the timing of results and recovery varies.

“It’s essential you understand how long it takes for results to be seen and for any potential side effects to subside when planning a treatment ahead of a future event,” shares McMillan.

Having this knowledge will ensure you achieve the desired results before an event. It will also help you avoid not wanting to go due to your recovery not being complete, and who wants that?!

Med Spa Services to look your holiday best

Here are some top rejuvenation Med Spa services McMillian suggests to ensure you wow everyone around you when you walk through the door this holiday season. We’ve broken them down by how far out from an event you should book and complete the treatment.

For 3 to 4 Weeks Out

Botox

Botox is an FDA-approved minimally invasive cosmetic treatment to improve the appearance of frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet at the corner of the eyes. It’s also used off-label for many reasons, including to lift the corners of the eyebrows and lips and to treat bunny lines across the bridge of the nose and cobblestone chin.

“You should get your Botox treatment three to four weeks out,” shares McMillan, “It takes up to two full weeks to take effect and you need to allow time in case you need a sight touch up following your initial treatment.”

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid, like those included in the Juvederm line, are used to treat lines and wrinkles, add volume to the face, increase facial balance, plump up the lips, and more. HA dermal filler results are instant, though take about two weeks to settle to achieve the final results.

McMillan suggests allowing three to four weeks out for scheduling your filler treatment in case you need a touch up and to allow swelling and bruising to heal and for the filler to settle.

Laser Treatments

There are several types of laser treatments on the market. Regardless of the type of laser, generally speaking, you’ll see some results soon after your treatment as your skin heals and remodels. CoolPeel and Broadband Light (BBL) laser treatments are examples of treatments where you’ll see results quickly. You’ll also see great results soon after a Halo treatment, with continued improvement for months to come.

According to McMillan, “Depending on the laser treatment, you need to schedule 3 to 4 weeks prior to an event to allow time for your skin to heal and remodel.”

For 2 to 3 weeks out

Chemical Peels

There are different levels of chemical peels, and the deeper or stronger the peel, the longer the recovery time. However, per McMillan, “Most peeling is complete approximately one week from treatment.”

Therefore, giving yourself two to three weeks prior to your event is sufficient for recovery and to allow for additional recovery time if needed.

Skinvive

Skinvive is an innovative new treatment from the Juvederm family designed to improve the smoothness of the cheeks. Made from hyaluronic acid, it’s injected below the skin’s surface as intradermal microdroplets to smooth and  hydrate the skin.

Improvements can be seen within two to four weeks of treatment, so you might want to allow 4 weeks to ensure the full effects, though two to three weeks out can show a significant improvement for many.

Scheduling at least 2 to 3 weeks out for a Skinvive treatment “allows time for the bruising and trauma of injections to heal,” states McMillian.

For 1 week out

DiamondGlow Facial

A DiamondGlow treatment is the perfect treatment to help you look refreshed and glowing for any holiday event or gathering. There’s no downtime and your skin is cleansed, exfoliated, and treated with innovative technology.

As McMillian expresses, “You’ll have an immediate glow, removing the dull look we get after a while. Pores will be cleaned out and minimized. Makeup will go on flawlessly.”
