If you’re someone who suffers from hyperhidrosis, then you know what it’s like to feel embarrassed by the excessive sweat that forms under your arms. Stained shirts, excessive sweat during workouts, and more all create scenarios that are unpleasant for those who are all too familiar with hyperhidrosis.

Botox Can Treat Hyperhidrosis.

It’s true that sweating is a natural part of life, but if you suffer from hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, then your level of sweat is far from natural and likely impacts your day to day life and activities. Fortunately, there are treatments approved to help, and Botox is one of them.

Per the International Hyperhidrosis Society, “In 2004, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approved BOTOX (onabotulinumtoxinA) for the treatment of severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating of the underarms) in patients unable to obtain relief using antiperspirants.”

Botox has been shown to decrease sweating by 82 to 87 percent when used to treat underarm excessive sweating. Results vary but are typically noticeable within four days of treatment with the full effects showing after about four weeks. Some studies have shown that dryness can last up to 14 months, with four to 12 months being the average.
