Asclera®: Before & After
Asclera (generic name polidocanol) is a sclerosing agent. It is an injectable prescription medicine that has been FDA-approved for sclerotherapy, or the minimally invasive treatment of varicose veins. Clinical tests have shown Asclera to be safe and effective in treating both uncomplicated spider veins and reticular veins.
Asclera works by damaging the inner lining, or endothelium, of the blood vessel upon injection. The irritation leads to fibrosis and clotting. Over time, the clotted vein is replaced with tissue. The overall effect is the reduction or elimination of visible and protruding veins in the treatment area.

Results at 26 Weeks after Last Asclera Treatment
Uncomplicated Spider Veins* (≤ 1 mm diameter)
Uncomplicated Reticular Veins* (1 to 3 mm diameter)
Uncomplicated Spider Veins* (≤ 1 mm) and Uncomplicated Reticular Veins* (1 to 3 mm)
*Individual results may vary depending on varicose-vein severity, disease progression, skin tone and number of treatments. The safety and efficacy of Asclera in varicose veins more than 3 mm in diameter has not been studied. Photos: Patients from EASI study.
Large or improperly administered doses of Asclera can have side effects ranging from pain, scarring and severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. It is therefore not suitable for patients with known polidocanol allergies or vein and blood-clotting conditions.
