When the seasons change, so should our skincare. Even though the climate changes aren’t as extreme in areas like Houston as they are in areas like the North East where winter brings a lot of cold and snow, there is still a climate change, nonetheless.

Below are some items to consider when winter months bring cooler weather.

Update that moisturizer.

With the dryness that can come with winter months, whether it’s outside or inside due to the heater running, you might notice your skin drying out, as well. Switch to a moisturizer that helps lock in moisture. You also want to use a cleanser that’s moisturizing, like a cream-based cleanser. SkinMedica has some great product options for all skin types.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate.

Hydrating is different than moisturizing, and it should be a focus all year round. Hydration is what keeps your skin supple and plump. Given that our bodies are made up primarily of water, hydration of the skin is a must. Hydrate with a hydrator like SkinMedica’s HA5 for amazing results. You also want to ensure you’re drinking plenty of water all year round.

Exfoliate your skin.

Exfoliation supports the skin’s natural exfoliation process. If your skin gets flaky due to dryness, use a mild exfoliator that moisturizes as it exfoliates to avoid drying your skin out even further.

Prep for spring and summer.

If you’re looking to up your game when it comes to your skincare and cosmetic needs because you want more dramatic results, the winter months are a great time to do it. Many laser treatments that help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, and dull skin require you to stay out of the sun for a period of time before and after treatment.

The Halo laser treatment is one example. The Halo works well to help turn you back the hands of time and gives your skin a healthy glow. To receive the treatment, you need to wear sunscreen and eliminate your time in the sun for a brief period of time before and after treatment.
