How does Sciton Resurfacing work?
Using advanced erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser technology for full-field and fractional skin resurfacing, the Sciton laser scans across the treatment area. When the scanning occurs, water in the skin absorbs the laser’s energy, resulting in the precise reduction or ablation of the skin’s top layer. With time, the body will replace the removed superficial layer of skin with fresh, healthy skin.
What can I expect during and after treatment?
A topical numbing agent will be applied 30 to 90 minutes prior to treatment. Once treatment begins, a session takes 15 to 30 minutes. After treatment, some swelling and redness is common for up to three days after treatment with one to three days of peeling afterward.
As the skin heals, it’s important to avoid sun exposure. Using a moisturizer and sunblock of SPF 45 or higher is important after treatment. Upon approval by your practitioner, makeup can be used.
Is there any downtime?
You will want to avoid the sun for at least two weeks. Otherwise, there is minimal downtime.
When will I see results?
You might notice improvements in pigmentation and skin texture within just a few days of treatment. Subtle improvements will continue to appear one to three months after treatment. Each additional treatment will produce results over time. A series of three to five treatments at two to six-week intervals is common. Working with a knowledgeable practitioner to determine what regiment is best for you for optimal results is important.
