If you deal with Rosacea, then you don’t need a description of what it is. At DermaTouch RN, we understanding how frustrating the condition can be. Fortunately, we can successfully treat Rosacea with our  532nm Aura laser and Broad Band Light (BBL).

What is Rosacea?

Being a common disorder affecting the facial skin, neck, and chest, the cause of rosacea is not known. It comes on most commonly in between thirty and fifty years of age, though those younger and older can experience rosacea, as well. Females are more likely to be impacted compared to males, though the severity of the condition is worse when it does impact males. Further, people with fair skin are impacted more than those with darker skin tones.

There are three stages of Rosacea:

Stage 1: Recurrent blushing or flushing which can last from several minutes to hours.

Stage 2: Redness covers a large area of the face with possible pimples, slight swelling and pustules developing on the mid-forehead, chin, and nose. Prominent facials pores can develop as the condition worsens.

Stage 3: Progressing to the third stage of Rosacea is uncommon, and when it does occur, it’s known as rhinophyma. This stage can be very disfiguring and is characterized by swelling and growth of the central facial areas and nose.

What triggers Rosacea?

It’s not clear what causes rosacea, though there are some known triggers that tend to initiate it or make it worse, including:

  • Alcohol, coffee, tea, spicy foods and hot foods can cause facial flushing, making Rosacea more noticeable.
  • Sunlight triggers and can worsen Rosacea.
  • Per the National Rosacea Society, emotional stress is the second most common trigger for Rosacea.
  • Hot tubs, baths, and showers can trigger and worsen Rosacea.

DermaTouch RN can treat Rosacea with laser technology!

With the advanced technology of our 532nm Aura laser and Broad Band Light (BBL), we can minimize the surface capillaries which minimizes facial flushing in the future. Depending on the severity of the condition, several treatments might be recommended (2 to 3 are common), though a noticeable difference can often be seen after just one treatment. As the body continues to build small surface capillaries, maintenance treatments will be required to keep the condition at bay.
