Are you ready to up your skin care routine and treatments for the New Year? Read on for tips and treatments to help you meet your skin care goals this coming year!

Skin Care Routine

A high-quality skin care routine is essential to maintain healthy skin. Products containing HA, AHA, BHA, and collagen are great for reducing the appearance of aging. Sunscreen and anti-aging products are perfect for preventing sun damage and premature again.

Your skin care routine should include morning and evening cleansing, moisturizing, and hydrating of the skin, as well as applying skin serums and treatments for specific skin concerns. Your skin care routine should also include exfoliation two to three times per week. Sunscreen should be worn daily and include UVA and UVB protection.

SkinMedica products are one high-quality skincare line that is backed by science and proven results.  SkinMedica’s HA5, HA5 Smooth and Plump lip system, Lyterra 2.0, and Advanced TNS Serum are examples of popular SkinMedica products.

Healthy Skin from the Inside

Healthy skin starts from the inside. To maintain healthy skin:

  • Drink plenty of water daily
  • Get plenty of rest nightly
  • Apply relaxation techniques throughout your week to reduce stress levels
  • Eat a healthy meal plan
  • Get plenty of exercise

Laser Resurfacing

Laser therapy treatments, like the BBL (broadband light therapy), Moxi, and Halo, help reduce the appearance of premature again and sun damage, acne, scarring, age spots, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles, and more. Many professionals recommend a series of laser treatments for optimal results.

Laser Hair Reduction

Laser hair removal allows individuals to say goodbye to shaving and waxing. It typically takes two to three treatments for optimal results.

Botox

Botox injections help to improve the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles and lines. It is FDA-approved to treat frown lines between the eyes, forehead lines, and crow’s feet at the outside corners of the eyes. Off-label uses of Botox include:

  • Reducing the appearance of bunny lines across the bridge of the nose
  • Smoothing out the chin (aka cobblestone chin)
  • Lifting the corners of the lip
  • Lifting the eyebrows
  • Smoothing the jawline.

Botox results take 5 to 12 days to appear and last for an average of four months. As Botox results wear off, additional Botox injections are required to maintain results. Follow-up Botox treatments might need more or fewer units of Botox compared to the initial treatment.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers for the face provide an excellent treatment to improve the appearance of wrinkles and add volume to the face. Also, they are a great treatment for lip augmentation, chin contouring, facial contouring, and facial balancing.

Some of the most popular dermal fillers, like Restylane and e Juvederm, are made of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is a naturally occurring substance found in our bodies. HA hydrates and plumps our skin. As we age, the level of HA in our bodies decreases, which can lead to the appearance of volume loss, fine lines, and wrinkles.

Dermal fillers for the face are injected under the skin, and results are immediate with most dermal fillers. It takes about two weeks for dermal fillers to fully settle after being injected, at which time, the long-term results of treatment will be apparent. Dermal fillers can last anywhere from six months to two years, depending on the filler used, the area treated, and an individual’s body chemistry. If an individual isn’t thrilled with their results, HA fillers are the only fillers that a professional can dissolve with an enzyme after injection.

Ultherapy

Ultherapy uses ultrasound technology to lift and tighten the jowls, mid-face, and lower-face. It also helps to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles in the chest area.

Ultherapy is the perfect treatment to treat sagging skin and increase collagen and elastin production within the body. Using thermal technology, Ultherapy boosts collagen production over time. As collagen increases, the skin thickens, and lines and wrinkles fade. With Ultherapy, there are no needles or downtime.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels can treat fine lines and wrinkles, acne, acne scarring, skin ruddiness, enlarged pores, and more. There are different levels of chemicals: light, medium, and deep.

Deep and medium chemical peels generally provide the most noticeable results, with some downtime following. Deep chemical peels cannot be repeated, medium chemical peels can be repeated every six months, and light chemical peels can be repeated every month.

Microneedling Treatments

Microneedling treatments stimulate collagen production to help improve the overall appearance of the skin. As a result, microneedling also helps to tighten the skin. Scarring, sun damage, signs of aging, and hyperpigmentation can all be treated with microneedling. The treatment is safe for most skin types, tones, and textures.

Standard microneedling treatments, like the SkinPen microneedling treatment, cost an average of $250 to $450 per treatment. Microneedling might create some tenderness, swelling, and redness following treatment. However, most patients return to their typical routine without restrictions following treatment.

Microneedling Radiofrequency is a newer form of microneedling. It incorporates thermal energy to further stimulate collagen for a more youthful and radiant appearance. Microneedling radiofrequency treatments, like Vivace, require no downtime following treatment.

Microneedling radiofrequency treatments average between $600 and $1000 per session. Pricing varies based on the area being treated. MedSpas, like DermaTouch RN, often offer package deals on microneedling treatments.
