Interested in getting Botox and dermal filler, but concerned about others noticing that you’ve had “something done?” This blog helps to answer the question “Where can you get Botox and filler without anyone noticing?” and offers tips on getting Botox and Juvederm treatments that lead to natural-looking results, including choosing the right provider, being conservative, and doing a gradual progression of filler.
Botox and dermal fillers are the two most popular minimally invasive cosmetic treatments on the market. As more and more people continue to turn to these treatments for a youthful appearance, facial balancing, a liquid facelift, and more, they also like to ensure they’ll be able to receive Botox and filler without others noticing. Common questions going around about the subject include:
- Can you get Botox or fillers without anyone noticing?
- Where can you get Botox and filler without anyone noticing?
We turn to San Antonio-based Nurse Injector and Advanced Practice Nurse Carrie Moschitto for her expert advice to answer these questions and more.
Where can you get Botox and filler without others noticing: what are Botox and dermal fillers?
As mentioned, Botox and dermal fillers are the two most popular minimally invasive cosmetic treatments available. Botox comes in number one with 8.7MM treatments conducted in the United States in 2022, followed by 5.6MM dermal filler treatments.
Botox injections
Botox is a neuromodulator treatment that helps to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s been FDA-approved for cosmetic use since 2002 to treat forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines. It’s also used for a number of off-label uses, including the treatment of bunny lines across the bridge of the nose, to lift the corners of the lips and eyebrows, to smooth cobblestone chin, and to contour the jawline.
Botox works by paralyzing the muscle it’s injected into, which relaxes the muscle. It takes 5 to 14 days for full results to take effect, and results last for up to an average of four months. Additional Botox injections are required to maintain results.
Dermal fillers
The most popular kind of dermal fillers on the market are HA fillers, like Juvederm and Restylane, made from hyaluronic acid. Of the 5.6MM dermal filler treatments in 2022 mentioned previously, 4.9MM were HA dermal fillers. There are other types of fillers, including those made from calcium hydroxylapatite, polymethylmethacrylate, collagen, and autologous fat injections. All of these types of fillers provide instant results.
There is another category of fillers referred to as biostimulation fillers. These fillers stimulate the production of our body’s own collagen once injected and are a great option for those who want to achieve results over time.
Where can you get Botox and filler without others noticing: What are some of the top reasons it’s noticeable that people have received a Botox or filler treatment?
Let’s start our conversation about where you can get Botox and fillers without anyone noticing by first understanding why Botox and filler are sometimes noticeable after treatment.
According to Moschitto, these treatments can be noticeable when people:
- Get too much injected
- Leave adjacent areas untreated
- Rely exclusively on neuromodulators (like Botox and Dysport) and dermal fillers
They get too much product injected
“I think that patients fear this [getting too much Botox or filler] most of all,” shares Moschitto, “Often, when patients come in concerned about looking like they have “had something done,” they associate this with the amount of product used. Yes, it can be true that getting too much Botox or filler at once can cause it to be more noticeable, though the amount used isn’t always the culprit. While more or fewer neuromodulator injections or filler will definitely have varying degrees of results, it’s also the case that you have to get enough to get a good effect.”
A reputable provider will work with you to determine the appropriate amount of product for your desired results.
Leaving adjacent areas completely untreated, especially with ongoing treatments
“To me, it really stands out when someone gets neuromodulators and they only treat one area and do not have any treatment in an adjacent area,” shares Moschitto, “For instance, the scowl and forehead, or the forehead and crow’s feet – treating one of these areas and not the other can cause an imbalance. Balancing the treatment across the regions of the face can make the result look more blended.”
Moschitto points out that the same holds true for dermal fillers.
“Likewise, with fillers, balancing treatment between the cheeks, the chin, the jaw, the lips, and the nasolabial folds, tends to have a much more natural look, since no single feature is becoming overly enhanced at the expense of everything else.”
Relying on neuromodulators and dermal fillers exclusively
Moschitto emphasizes that it’s important for individuals to consider their skin in its entirety, including skin quality, and not just focus on filling in lines and wrinkles.
“I think that the best outcomes require a multi-modal approach that incorporates topical skin care, biostimulatory fillers, energy-based modalities – like lasers and multi-focused ultrasound treatments – microneedling, and other treatments that focus on improving and maintaining skin quality.”
And minimally invasive cosmetic treatments across the board can only do so much.
“Additionally, it is important to recognize that there is a limit to what we can accomplish with all of the wonderful technology available. Sometimes, surgical intervention may be a better option.”
Tips for getting Botox and filler without anyone noticing
When asked what tips she had for people who want natural-looking results or want to receive Botox and filler treatments without it being obvious to others, Moschitto suggested the following:
- Research providers
- Build your desired effect gradually over time
- Don’t overfill with fillers
- Balance the effect when getting Botox
- Consider biostimulatory fillers
- Plan for possible post-treatment bruising and swelling
Research Botox and dermal filler providers
“Take care when selecting your provider,” suggests Moschitto, ”Seek out providers that are backed by experience, positive reviews, credentials, and have the proper license required to practice.”
It’s important to get treatments from a licensed professional or establishment to avoid the risk of being treated with fake Botox and fillers or dealing with issues following treatment. A reputable provider will also know the ins and outs of Botox and fillers, as well as facial anatomy, to guide you in the best options for your treatment.

Build your desired effect gradually over time
When you’re considering cosmetic treatments that involve dermal fillers, it’s best to talk to your provider about building results over time. This approach helps to ensure you achieve more natural-looking results with time vs. getting a lot of filler at once, where others are more likely to notice.
Moschitto recommends avoiding liquid face-lift-type procedures that involve the injection of 6+ syringes in a single setting. “With HA filler, you can build gradually over time.”
Pro tip: You want to budget accordingly for your cosmetic treatments to ensure you can build desired results, as well as maintain them, over time.
Don’t overfill with fillers
“Don’t overfill,” Moschitto states, “While HA fillers are reversible, it is ideal to undershoot rather than overshoot, hopefully eliminating the need for filler reversal procedures.”
Overfilling with dermal filler can cause the results to be more noticeable, so you want to work with a provider that is conservative and will also be honest to help you avoid overfilling. It’s also helpful to always look at your before and after photos, so you have an idea of where you were and where you are now to remind yourself of your overall look and where you started, so you don’t stray too far from your beautiful self!
Balance the effect when getting Botox
You want your Botox treatment to appear natural, and one way to do that is to ensure that the area treated isn’t pulling in an odd way or appears more frozen compared to the surrounding areas.
Moschitto’s approach?
“With Botox, if someone’s main focus is a single area, I talk to them about treating that area more heavily and adding a light sprinkle of units in the surrounding area to balance the effect.”
Consider biostimulatory fillers
Biostimulatory fillers are less obvious when you first get them compared to other types of fillers, since the results develop over time.
Maschitto shares, “Biostimulatory fillers will tend to be less obvious immediately after treatment, and results are gradual in onset. So, while the effect can be transformative, it tends to be less dramatic in the short term.”
Plan for possible post-treatment bruising and swelling
One of the best ways to achieve optimal results without others noticing is to follow pre- and post-procedure instructions. This can help you avoid unnecessary bruising and swelling that might be noticeable.
“Plan accordingly for the possibility of bruising and swelling post-treatment,” shares Moschitto. She also suggests the following tips to improve post-procedure healing:
- Consider starting sublingual Arnica prior to treatment to minimize post-procedure swelling and bruising.
- Use ice as directed.
- Call the provider or clinic where you received your treatment if excessive swelling or bruising occurs after treatment.
- When recommended, start prophylactic valacyclovir prior to treatment. Speak with your provider about this prior to treatment.
- Avoid excessive alcohol, NSAIDS (ibuprofen, Aleve, Motrin, etc.), and Aspirin for a few days prior to your procedure if at all possible.
- Follow post-care instructions.

Are there treatment areas that are difficult to “hide” or get without anyone noticing?
When wondering “Where can you get Botox and filler without others noticing?” there are some treatment areas that swell more than others, making the fact that you’ve had a treatment more noticeable to others.
“Lip filler and under eye filler tend to have more swelling in the treatment area than other areas of the face, and as a result are going to be more noticeable after the treatment,” Moschitto shares, “Consider planning for some extra healing time after treatment in these areas.”
In addition to Botox and filler treatments, Moschitto points out that Kybella and thread lift procedures are other types of cosmetic treatments that you want to be mindful of if you don’t want others to take notice.
Kybella is an injectable treatment that helps to eliminate fat cells under the chin and in other areas of the body.
“Kybella can cause a lot of swelling. Consider pursuing this type of treatment during a time of the year when the neck can be more easily covered.”
Thread lift procedures help to lift areas of the face where inserted.
“Thread lift procedures can cause some distortion of the skin surface initially that can be more obvious. This subsides with time.”
