Juvederm, made by Allergan, the makers of Botox, is one of the most popular HA dermal fillers on the market. In this post, we turn to expert Candace Bersani to discuss the top treatment areas for Juvederm filler, why it’s effective, the ideal candidate for a Juvederm treatment, and more…

According to a 2020 American Society of Plastic Surgeons report, soft tissue dermal fillers come in second as the top minimally invasive treatment only behind neuromodulators, like Botox. Of the 3.4 million dermal filler treatments conducted in 2020, more than 2.6 million of those treatments were hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, like Juvederm.

Juvederm, made by Allergan, is one of the most popular HA dermal fillers on the market. In this post, we turn to Houston-based expert Professional Injector and Registered Nurse Candace Bersani for her insight and guidance on Juvederm filler top treatment areas and more.

Top Juvederm filler treatment areas

Bersani shares that the following are the most popular Juvederm filler treatment areas:

  • Nasolabial Folds
  • Lips
  • Cheeks

There’s also been an increase in jawline contouring and patients requesting full facial restoration, often referred to as a liquid facelift.

According to Bersani, “Even though we are starting to see more and more patients seek out a full facial approach to volume restoration, lips, cheeks, and nasolabial folds continue to be the most requested areas for dermal fillers. With their newest addition, Juvederm Volux, we have also seen an uptick in Jawline filler this year.”

Some of the additional areas that many injectors treat with Juvederm filler include:

  • Marionette lines
  • Acne scarring
  • Temples
  • Lines around the mouth

Types of Juvederm fillers

One of the great things about the Juvederm family of dermal fillers is the fact that there are many different options for different treatment areas and concerns. Juvederm fillers are also known for their high efficacy and consistent results.

Bersani shares, “I like that the brand offers a wide range of dermal fillers that address the entire face. Their Vycross technology is manufactured in such a way that allows for a longer duration and decreased swelling. While results can vary from patient to patient, I do find that the product line delivers consistent outcomes, which is very important in delivering aesthetic outcomes.”

Juvederm filler options include:

  • Ultra for moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds and to add volume to the lips for up to 12 months
  • Ultra Plus to fill moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds beyond 12 months
  • Voluma to correct age-related volume loss for lift up to 24 months and the first FDA-approved filler for chin augmentation
  • Vollure to add subtle volume to smooth moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles for up to 18 months
  • Volbella softens the look of perioral lines around the mouth and adds subtle volume to the lips for up to 12 months
  • Velux, the first FDA-approved jawline filler to smooth and contour the jawline, is also used to augment and contour the chin for up to 24 months

Allergan will likely continue to produce more Juvederm filler options and offer advanced training to providers of their products.

“The brand is one of the most innovative on the market, and we’ll continue to see more and more from them as the industry grows,” shares Beransi, “It is also important to note that they provide ongoing training and support to providers using their product. No matter how long you’ve been injecting, there is always something to learn and new ways to sharpen your skills as a provider.”

How much does Juvederm filler cost?

Juvederm filler treatments can range anywhere from $300 to upwards of $3000. Costs vary based on the type of Juvederm filler used, how much product is injected, the provider, the clinic’s location, and the kind of treatment.

Who is an ideal candidate for Juvederm filler?

Fortunately, Juvederm filler is a widely used filler for people from all walks of life and works well for most individuals.

As Bersani shares, “Most people are good candidates provided they are in good health and don’t have any health conditions that could impede the healing or settling process.”

Bersani additionally points out that an ideal candidate has reasonable expectations regarding what Juvederm can do for them.

“It’s also important to note that the ideal candidate for a Juvederm treatment would have realistic expectations in terms of aesthetic goals. If you think about what the filler does, it adds and restores volume. It is important to understand what the patient is bothered by aesthetically when discussing treatment and what they ultimately seek to get out of adding dermal filler. There are limitations in terms of what injectables can do. Therefore, it might be necessary for the provider to recommend a different or additional modality if they can’t address the desired outcome with dermal filler alone.”

Complementary treatments often recommended in combination with Juvederm filler include:
